The Millennium Technology Prize

The Millennium Technology Prize is Finland´s recognition for innovators that aim to improve quality of life and raise its profile as high-tech country. The Prize is awarded by the Millennium Prize Foundation and the prize sum of one million euro is awarded every second year.

The winner of the Prize will be announced in June 2008. In October 2008 the audience has an opportunity to familiarize the rewarded idea when it is proposed in Finland, in The Finnish Science Centre Heureka. At the same time, The International Millennium Youth Forum will take place.


The International Millennium Youth Forum event

3rd - 5th of October, Finland

The International Millennium Youth Forum is a three days event for 15-19 years old students and their teachers who are interested in global innovations and technology, and are enthusiastic about meeting like-minded youngsters around the world.

In university level, Bologna process has been adopted to create solid educational area throughout the Europe. We think that the international cooperation should be started even on younger students to ensure the interaction and constant mutual learning in science education area. Such an event as International Millennium Youth Forum will increase the communication globally, help the participants to see technological and science strengths of their home country and share their experiences with other students.

Program and expenses

Program of the International Millennium Youth Forum event includes participation in the lecture of the Millennium Prize winner as well as different team tasks, visit to exhibition of The Finnish Science Centre Heureka, Helsinki sightseeing tour and social activities. During the event, participants will also become acquainted with Finnish industry and studying opportunities in Finland.

The program, accommodation, food and transportation inside Finland are free of charge for the participants during the event. Travelling costs to Finland and other expenses outside of the Millennium Youth Forum event (e.g. selection of the participants) will be on responsibility of the sending organization of participants.

Is your group interested in participating?

We are looking for groups of maximum five students and one teacher (teachers participating is not compulsory) from every selected country to participate the International Millennium Youth Forum event. If you are interested in participating the event please fill the preliminary application form by 24th of June. You will receive more detailed information about the event on the end of the June. We are expecting 50 participants to the event (including also Finnish students).
